Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce the publication of the position statement on alternative oral rehydration solutions to Dioralyte®, which has been written by the Neonatal and Paediatric
Pharmacist Group (NPPG) working with the Paediatric and Neonatal Gastroenterology Specialist Interest Group.

This position statement is published in response to the Medicines Supply Notification (MSN/2022/082) that was issued by the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England and is intended to support colleagues when choosing alternative preparations to Dioralyte® during shortages. It provides information on alternative options depending on the clinical situation of the patient and outlines their composition as well as advantages and disadvantages associated with them.
