Andrea Gill – Biography

 Andrea Gill began her career at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in her home city of Newcastle and quickly identified that she wanted to specialise in Paediatric Pharmacy.  She moved to Liverpool in order to pursue a paediatric career at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and has been there ever-since!  She has specialised in Audit, Research and Paediatric Intensive Care.  Since her appointment as Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager at Alder Hey in 1997 she has led the development of the clinical pharmacy team within the Trust, establishing the “Near Patient Pharmacy” service in 2009.  Her clinical interests include paediatric pain and sedation, critical care and medication safety and she has contributed to a number of publications on these subjects.  She was part of the steering group who introduced Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration into the Trust in 2015. She chairs the multi-disciplinary Medication Safety Committee in Alder Hey and is involved in many medication safety initiatives.  She has been on the NPPG committee since 2009 and leads the Conference sub-committee.
