PAEDIATRIC PRESCRIBING PRINCIPLES – ELEARNING

This eLearning module on the RCPCH website (updated 2016) is for all paediatricians, from trainee to consultant, and any health professionals with a role in prescribing medication to children and young people. After completing the module, you will be able to:
– describe the physiological changes that occur during childhood, which affect drug metabolism, including the impact of genetics and chronic diseases
– explain what adverse drug reactions are, see some examples of when they may occur, and understand what to do if they are suspected
– understand the principles of safe prescribing and drug administration including why errors may occur and methods to improve prescribing practice and patient safety. The course is self-paced and will take you no more than 1.5 hours to complete, spread over as long a period as convenient to you.

PAEDIATRIC SCRIPT

SCRIPT is an eLearning programme to improve safety and competency among healthcare professionals around prescribing, therapeutics and medicines management. As of March 2020 SCRIPT has been made accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic to up-skill staff and support those returning to work.Medicine & Surgery, Paediatric, Nursing, Primary Care and Ambulance Service programmes are now freely accessible to anyone with an NHS.uk or NHS.net address.
