Our expert speaker will be: Christian Chadwick, Lead Pharmacist for Neonatal Care – University Hospitals Sussex

Objectives:

  • Understand how drugs transfer into breast milk
  • Understand the factors that affect how much of a drug is present in breast milk
  • Discuss how to decide if the presence and amount of a drug in breast milk is a problem or not
  • Discuss some common drugs that affect breast milk production
  • Considerations around drugs that are incompatible with breastfeeding
  • Explore the topic of recreational drugs in breast milk
  • Signposts to sources of help and information
