Nicola Husain is a paediatric pharmacist and independent prescriber with broad clinical experience across children’s services, including neurology, metabolic medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, haematology, surgery and intensive care. She has a particular interest in genomics and pharmacogenomics, having also previously worked for the NHS Genomic Medicine Service. Nicola is Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London.

Nicola has a strong interest in education and workforce development and has contributed to national initiatives supporting paediatric pharmacy and genomic medicine. As Education & Training Lead for NPPG, she leads the organisation’s strategy for supporting the professional development of its membership, chairs the Education subgroup and is a member of Research & Publications subgroup.

Nicola’s research interests include pharmacogenomics, pharmacometrics and precision medicine. Her publications span paediatric medicines optimisation, therapeutic drug monitoring, pharmacogenomics and precision approaches to prescribing, with a focus on improving the safe and effective use of medicines in children.

Nicola has a strong interest in global child health, having previously worked with an NGO supporting children with disabilities in India and volunteered with CHIVA Africa to support paediatric HIV care in South Africa.
